With the release of this app, this will surely make the Switch more usable as a tablet. So besides for playing games, with this new feature, Nintendo Switch owners are now allowed to watch and stream videos over the internet.
The requirement to use this app is actually pretty easy. So all you have to do is register at least one Nintendo eShop account in order to be able to download this app.
Speaking about this app, Niconico is actually similar like YouTube where users can search and stream a wide range of videos using internet connection. Unfortunately, the language settings of this app is currently in Japanese. So we would suggest you to buy Japanese dictionary first especially if you want to unlock the full potential of this app.
This Japanese video sharing app may not be as great as other popular platforms out there, but hopefully the release of Niconico app on Nintendo Switch will convince other big players like Netflix, iPlayers or YouTube to get on board real time soon.
This is also a good sign that Nintendo is ready to bring more features to Nintendo Switch that will surely make this device more versatile as a tablet. So we will not be surprised if in the near future you can finally do other things like browsing the web or using apps on the Switch.
