Hey students! this Acer Chromebook CB3 is probably the one you're looking for? (131-C3SZ)
In the US schools, Chromebooks used to be unpopular especially compared to Windows laptops or iPads. But time went by and today, you will find vast majority students in the US are using these Chromebook laptops. Isn't that amazing, huh? Well, it surely is. And if you are currently looking for a simple productive laptop that is not expensive for your children, you may want to check out the one called Acer Chromebook CB3.

So Acer Chromebook CB3 now can be yours for $170. And it's available on Amazon today. This may not be the cheapest laptop around (because there is Dell Inspiron i3162 that costs only $150 and it's running on Windows 10 OS), but if you're tight on budget, this Chromebook can still be worth considering.

But you're probably wondering what's so great about this Chromebook, right?

Hey students! This Acer Chromebook CB3 is probably the one you're looking for? (131-C3SZ)
First of all, Acer Chromebook CB3 is a regular laptop. So it's NOT a 2-in-1 convertible laptop that is detachable from its keyboard or can bend 360 degrees. It's simply a regular laptop, just like any regular Windows laptop out there.

Acer Chromebook CB3 is running on Chrome OS, not Windows 10 OS, which means, you won't be able to run any Windows legacy software or games on this machine. But it's probably not such a deal breaker for some people, especially students who only want everything to be integrated and synchronized with Google Cloud storage.

Acer Chromebook CB3 comes with an 11.6-inch display and it's sporting the standard HD resolution that has been used on almost all 11.6-inch laptops - 1366x768 pixels. So you can still enjoy a pretty good amount of details out of this screen.

As a laptop that costs $170, Acer Chromebook CB3 may not be the most powerful machine around, but even so, there's a dual-core 2.1GHz Intel Celeron N2840 processor found inside this laptop, as well as 2GB DDR3 SDRAM and Integrated Intel HD Graphics.

So basically, for simple productive works like typing or editing on Office software, this laptop is still up for that task.

The bad news is, Acer Chromebook CB3 is only equipped with 16GB of internal storage. So if you're planning to use this Chromebook to keep many of your favorite movies, music or photos, this is probably not such an ideal laptop for you.

The good thing is, there's still a SD card slot for an expansion, so you can still bump up its storage to 64GB or hopefully up to 128GB if you really need an extra storage.

Acer claims that this laptop is capable to survive for up to 9 hours in battery life. This is believable given that Chrome OS is not as heavy as Windows 10 OS. So as a productive machine, this Acer Chromebook CB3 is definitely well-prepared for that.

How does it perform for playing games?

Unfortunately, if you are a gamer, we strictly recommend you to stay out of the way from this Chromebook because Acer Chromebook CB3 is definitely not a great performing laptop for playing games. And besides, there are not many awesome games available right now on Chrome Web Store.

Even if this Acer Chromebook finally gets the support to run Android OS and gain the access to Google Play Store, we're not really sure if this is going to perform well for playing heavy Android games like Asphalt 8: Airborne, Modern Combat 5, etc. It probably will suffer a lot in performance.

Should I buy it?

Well, it depends. If you're currently looking for a basic productive machine to do simple works like typing, editing on Office apps or browsing the web, of course Acer Chromebook CB3 can be a pretty good choice for you.

However, we totally recommend you to check out Dell Inspiron i3162 because it costs only $149 but it's got some impressive specs like an HD display, Intel Celeron processor, 4GB of RAM, Intel HD Graphics, 32GB storage and it's running on Windows 10 Home OS.
