ASUS Transformer Book T100AF is only $229, probably the company's cheapest Windows 10 laptop around
Do you know that ASUS has a really cheap laptop that you can buy right now on the market. Oh yes it does, in fact this laptop is probably the company's cheapest laptop available on the market today. The laptop I'm referring here is ASUS Transformer Book T100AF. This one is a tablet with keyboard portion and it's running on Windows full-fledged OS.

Right now on Amazon, you can grab this bad boy for just $229.99 (new). Can you believe that? And this is really cheap considering how awesome the stuff that it has to offer, like its Windows platform which enables you to run the legacy software on this platform.

ASUS Transformer Book T100AF is only $229, probably the company's cheapest Windows 10 laptop around
ASUS Transformer Book T100AF actually comes pre-installed with Windows 8.1 out of the box, which is pretty old for today's standards. But the good news is, you can  upgrade this laptop to Windows 10 OS (according to videos on YouTube).

This laptop is definitely suitable for those of you who are looking for a Windows laptop to accommodate your productive tasks everyday. And if you're only looking for a media-consumptive notebook to watch movies or browse the web, ASUS Transformer Book T100AF can also be a great purchase for you.

First of all, ASUS Transformer Book T100AF is not just a regular laptop. These days, this laptop is more popular to be called as 2-in-1 hybrid laptop. So as mentioned above, this one is a tablet with detachable keyboard portion.

If you want to enter the laptop mode, you can just attach the tablet into the keyboard portion, put it on the table and you're good to go. But if you want to go back to the tablet mode to browse the web or watch movies on the couch, you can simply detach the tablet from the keyboard dock.

The Specs

For doing some simple productive tasks like typing, ASUS Transformer Book T100AF is definitely well-equipped for that.

So it's powered by Intel Bay Trail-T Quad-core Z3735 processor clocked at 1.33GHz - 1.86GHz. There is 2GB RAM in memory department, while its graphical performance is handled by Integrated Intel HD Graphics.

ASUS Transformer Book T100AF is packing a 10.1-inch IPS display with screen resolution of 1366x768 pixels and of course, it's a touchscreen. This may not be that huge compared to standard regular laptops out there that mostly use screens above 13-inches. But it's actually still pretty big enough for most of users.

The Cons

However, despite all the great things you can get from this laptop, plus how cheap it is, this ASUS Transformer Book T100AF still has some drawbacks that you may want to consider before making the decision to buy.

One of them is in storage department

So ASUS Transformer Book T100AF is only equipped with 32GB eMMC internal storage. There's no SSD or other internal harddisc on this machine. And it's still eaten up by its Windows operating system that usually consumes around 4GB to 5GB. So this leaves you with only around 27GB of free internal storage.

This means you cannot store a lot of media contents like movies, music and other stuff into this laptop, which is kind of bummer.

The good thing is, this laptop is expandable through microSD card slot for up to 64GB (if we're not mistaken). So in total, you basically can still have as much as 81GB of free storage.

We believe this is pretty big enough especially if you just mainly use this laptop to do basic productive works like typing on Office Word or editing spreadsheets.

How does it perform for playing Windows PC games?

Well, with only Intel Bay Trail quad-core Z3735 processor, 2GB of RAM and Intel HD graphics, we totally don't recommend this laptop if you're into gaming. In fact, with its performance, ASUS Transformer Book T100AF is definitely not a great gaming laptop.

However, there are still some older-gen games that you can still enjoy playing on this machine, like GTA San Andreas, GTA Vice City, Prince of Persia Two Thrones and other games that can perform well under 2GB of RAM.

Is it worth purchasing?

Well, if you are looking for a cheap Windows laptop that you mainly use for doing some basic productive tasks like typing, blogging or editing spreadsheets, we believe ASUS Transformer Book T100AF is still a worth laptop to purchase. But of course, you need to consider its low storage before buying this laptop.
