Samsung Nexus 10 Tablet Specs, Still a great 10 inch Android tablet in 2021?

Google Nexus 10 Specs
When it first came out in 2013, Samsung Nexus 10 Tablet specs was definitely the one that I really noticed from this 10-inch tablet. Well, it became the world's first tablet with 2.5K display and it was also a beast in performance. But the question remains: Is this tablet still good for today's standards?
In this post I'm gonna show you how Samsung Nexus 10 Tablet specs are still quite impressive in 2021.

The first time Samsung Google Nexus 10 made its first appearance to the public at Google HQ, which was around a year ago, this tablet made many people, especially tech geeks out there really impressed, and a LOT.

This tablet is just mind blowing in many ways.
  • It has an ideal size for big tablet,
  • it has some monster specs on it
  • and the most importantly, it’s the first tablet on this planet with a full HD 2560x1600 pixel display that amazingly, until today, still blows the Retina Display on iPad Air out of the water.
And that is a huge achievement by Google and Samsung.

Samsung Nexus 10 Tablet specs

Anyway, a couple of days ago, i’ve already showcased the younger brother of Google Nexus 10 on this website, and that was the Google Nexus 7, both the 2012 and 2013 editions.

And to show you how i’m so totally in love with by this Nexus series, today, i decide to bring up to you Samsung Nexus 10 Tablet specs.

I heard several rumors earlier that this tablet will have the successor that allegedly will launch this year.

But i don’t know - i think those rumors will not be shaping up into tangible reports in the near future given that until today, we haven’t seen any sign or clue from Google or any tech-related news regarding the arrival of this tablet.

So i assume that Google and Samsung currently don’t have any plan to release the sequel of Nexus 10 this year.

Okay then, if you’re interested to read what i know about Google Nexus 10, then be sure to check out this review.

However, as usual, before you go straight to read my review of this tablet, bear in mind that, in writing this review, i don’t actually own that tablet by myself.

So this is not going to be some in-depth review that you’d hoped for.

However, when writing this review, i use some of the information that i really know about this tablet.

Actually, I’ve been following this tablet ever since it made its first debut at Google HQ a year ago, alongside Google Nexus 4.

So i know quite a bit about this tablet.

Not to mention, this review will also be based on the articles, users reviews and video reviews that i’ve gathered around the net.

Well, without further ado, here is my personal review of Samsung Nexus 10 Tablet specs.

Introduction

As you may know or not, Google Nexus 10 appeared at the first time in front of public a year ago, to be exact, at the Google headquarter in Mountain View.

And to be more precised, this tablet was unveiled alongside Google Nexus 4 at the same time when Hurricane Sandy hit the US.

This Google Nexus 10 was introduced by Google in front of TheVerge, a hugely popular tech website across the net today.

As rumored earlier (before this tablet was unveiled by Google), this Google-Samsung tablet turned out to be packing some monster specs inside, which amazingly blew almost all the tablets out of the water, including the iPad 4th gen.

What really impressed many people around tech world from Samsung Nexus 10 Tablet specs was actually its display. This tablet was the first tablet on this planet earth with a 2560x1600 pixel display.

Well again, that’s a really HUGE achievement. And more impressively, this tablet indeed still leapfrogs iPad Air and iPad mini 2 in terms of display.

Again, this is just incredible given the fact that Google Nexus 10 was a last year’s tablet, while iPad Air and iPad mini 2 are the latest-gen tablets from Apple.

So with that being said, then there is no doubt if Google Nexus 10 can be considered as one of the best 10-inch tablets around the world today, if not the best.

Personally, what i really like about this tablet, besides its mind-blowing display, is definitely Samsung Nexus 10 Tablet specs, which is just outstanding for a tablet that is priced affordable than the iPad.
  • It has one of the best design (that looks even better than Samsung GALAXY tablets),
  • it’s packing some monster specs on it,
  • if feels really comfortable to hold, despite having a 10-inch screen,
  • and the most importantly, it’s still one of the best tablets around the market to date.

Design

Samsung Nexus 10 Tablet specs

I think one of the things that really stands out from Samsung Nexus 10 Tablet specs is definitely its design.

It may not have the same premium feel nor aluminum-plated material just like the iPad.

But the good thing about this tablet is, despite being a Samsung’s tablet, the design of Google Nexus 10 is a huge departure from all range of Samsung GALAXY tablets or devices for that matter.

In fact, i believe Google was the one that was fully in charge when handling the concept design of this tablet.

At a glance, it kind of looks similar with the design of older-gen Google Nexus 7 or Google Nexus 4, which is no weird given that Google Nexus 10 is the member of Google Nexus family.

However, somehow, if we look more closely, we can see how Samsung was also responsible and took part in designing this tablet.

So long story short, Google Nexus 10 kind of looks like other Nexus devices, but at the same time, it also looks like Samsung GALAXY devices, especially on the front side, bezels and rounded corners.

I think one thing that is really noticeable from Google Nexus 10 and makes it different from Samsung GALAXY devices is the rounded shape around the side of this tablet.

I’m not talking about the rounded corners of this tablet.

But i’m actually talking about the rounded shape on top and bottom sides of this tablet if you hold this tablet in landscape mode, remember, in landscape mode.

This rounded shape looks really rounded and makes this tablet look quite a bit bulky or chubby on the front side.

But interestingly, that’s the thing that i really love to see from this tablet, its distinctive look.

It may have huge bezels around the screen (which is usually considered as “meh” by users), but thankfully, the rounded shape around the side of this tablet makes this tablet look kind of appealing and solid.

The other great thing about the design of Google Nexus 10 is its back cover.

According to many users of this tablet, they experience that the back side of Google Nexus 10 really feels nice and comfortable to hold in hands, which is made in soft touch finish.

And this is good because Google Nexus 10 no doubt is a huge tablet with huge bezels around the side of the screen.

So this tablet is simply huge.

But it’s amazing to hear how many users feel that its huge size doesn’t really feel that huge thanks to the soft touch finish on its back cover.

And more amazingly, the soft touch back cover of Google Nexus 10 is not a fingerprint magnet.

So users can touch or even hold it tightly, and there will be no fingerprints left on this tablet.

For your information, one popular tech reviewer on YouTube named MKBHD or known as Marques Brownlee, really loves this tablet a LOT, especially its design and material.

He always mentioned how he really liked Google Nexus 10 in many of his videos, and even the one when he interviewed Motorola CEO, Dennis Woodside, a couple of days ago.

  • a Dual-core Exynos 5250 1.7 GHz Cortex-A15
  • 2 GB RAM
  • Mali-T604 GPU

  • 1.9 MP front-facing camera

  • No EDGE
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • NFC
  • USB
  • Bluetooth
  • Infrared Yes
  • Non-removable Li-Po 9000 mAh battery
Besides its great design, Samsung Nexus 10 Tablet specs are the other thing that really makes this device a worth buying tablet.

Google Nexus 10 is packing some monster specs on it, from:
  • a 10.1-inch display with the staggering 2560x1600 pixel resolution plus -299 ppi in pixel density,
  • a dual-core Cortex-A15 clocked at 1.7GHz per core,
  • Mali T604 GPU (which is way better than the old Mali-400 on older Samsung devices),
  • 2GB of RAM,
  • 5MP rear-facing and 1.9MP front-facing cameras,
  • 16/32GB internal storage,
  • a behemoth 9000mAh power battery (which is insane for a tablet)
  • and some other standard features like Bluetooth, GPS, Infrared, NFC and many more.

With all of these goodies, then without a question, Google Nexus 10 is just one of the best tablets across the market today, and still stacks up against the likes of iPad Air and other 10-inch tablets out there, with the exception of Windows 8 Pro tablets of course.

And the fact that this tablet is now priced at lower price than when it launched a year ago, then this tablet could probably be the best 10-inch tablet offering on the market right now.

Screen

The screen of Google Nexus 10 is absolutely the strongest point of this tablet.

It is still the best and highest resolution screen on the tablet market to date and even still outperforms the so called "Retina display" of iPad Air or iPad mini 2.

And this is just so amazing because iPad has always been the top choice or even the absolute choice around the tablet market.

Having beaten iPad on the sector that it always brags about is definitely something that must be considered as huge accomplishment for Google, and especially Samsung, Apple’s worst enemy.

Last year, i think only Kobo 10 HD tablet that had the same exact quality display like Google Nexus 10 on the market back then.

However, given that i never really saw that tablet in existence, let alone being reviewed on any tech-related sites around the net (but i’ll probably check it out later after this and make a review for that tablet), then i can assume that Google Nexus 10 is still the best 10-inch Android tablet on the market right now.

Interestingly, the 2560x1600 pixel resolution on Google Nexus 10 can now be found on the latest-gen of Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1, which is not so surprising given that Samsung is the one that made the display for these tablets.

But i think it’s just awesome to see how Samsung can continue to bring the display that still manages to set the bar really really high

However, besides Google Nexus 10 and Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 edition), there are also some other tablets that already adopt the same display that Google Nexus 10 is packing.

One of them is Kindle Fire 8.9 HDX, Amazon’s latest tablet that is also the flagship model in Kindle Fire lineup this year.

There might be other tablets that also sport this same exact quality display just like Google Nexus 10, but i’ll definitely let you know once if discovered any of them in the coming future.

User Interface

As the member of Nexus family, then without a doubt Google Nexus 10 will come with stock Android out of the box, instead of Samsung’s usual TouchWiz UI.

So you’ll get much lighter User Interface than the one found on Samsung GALAXY devices out there, without any bloatware and custom skins from Samsung.

And this is great because with stock Android pre-installed on this Google Nexus 10, it means the whole performance of this tablet will be much even faster and smoother with no lag whatsoever.

Besides, being the Nexus tablet, it means the software updates for this tablet will arrive much even faster and continuously from Google itself, than any other GALAXY devices from Samsung.

Thankfully, Google Nexus 10 is packing some monster specs on it, like dual-core Exynos Cortex-A15, 2GB of RAM and Mali-T604.

And this will really help this tablet a lot to pass the spec restriction in getting software updates in the future.

So you don’t ever need to worry about not being able to get the latest updates from Google because that’s not gonna happen.

The internal hardware of this tablet are more than capable to handle even the newest updates from Google in the next 2 years ahead.

Besides, in the future, every Android updates after the Android KitKat is believed to be much even lighter and simpler than the updates before the era of Jelly Bean (i.e., Ice Cream Sandwich, Gingerbread, etc).

So the good news is, even much lower-spec’d device with even 512MB of RAM is said to be able to get the latest Android Kitkat in the future.

With that being said, then the chance for Google Nexus 10 to get the newest software updates will be even bigger because this tablet comes with some high-end powerful specs inside and it is Nexus device from Google.

So i believe you know the conclusion of that.

Performance

When it comes to performance, then Google Nexus 10 really screams.

It’s really fast, smooth and without a doubt powerful in handling any kind of heavy tasks like watching full HD movies, reading books, browsing internet, listening to music and most importantly, playing graphics intense games.

So if you’re looking for a tablet that has a full HD 2560x1600 display with monster specs, smooth performance, great design and long lasting battery life, but at affordable price, then Google Nexus 10 is your best choice out there.

It’s definitely great for watching movies given that it has full HD display.

And thanks to its insanely sharp display, now you no longer need to do zoom in/out in the web browser or when reading books because all the texts or images look insanely sharp and crisp, making the experience of using this tablet much better and satisfying.

Playing games is also one of the best things you can do on this tablet because the games will look insanely sharp and have more detailed graphics plus full visual effects, thanks to its powerful GPU and full HD display.

Long story short, Google Nexus 10 is definitely one of the best Android tablets out there that can provide you anything that the best tablet can, but at the fraction of the cost of high-end tablets like iPad Air or Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1.

So you’ll make no mistake when buying this tablet for sure.

As mentioned above, Google Nexus 10 is a great tablet for playing games.

And that’s true because Samsung Nexus 10 Tablet specs are impressive, like a dual-core Cortex-A15 clocked at 1.8GHz per core, 2GB of RAM and Mali-T604.

And these are still the specs that you only find on high-end tablets.

The GPU of this tablet, which is Mali-T604 is way more powerful than the Mali-400 found on many of low-to-mid-end tablets on the market right now (but probably still slightly less powerful than the latest Mali-405).

So games, even the graphically demanding ones like Asphalt 8: Airborne, Dead Trigger 2, GTA Vice City or even the latest GTA San Andreas, can still be played smoothly and in full graphics setting on this tablet.

However, for other latest games that are gonna launch next year, i doubt that Google Nexus 10 can still be capable enough to run next year’s games.

I know – Google Nexus 10 can still play next year’s games perfectly and smoothly.

However, i don’t think those games will run in full graphics on this tablet.

Camera

It’s good to see that Google Nexus 10 is still packing a 5MP camera on the back.

It may not deliver the best photos nor videos to the users, especially when compared to the pictures or videos taken with the 5MP camera on iPad.

But still, having a 5MP camera on any tablet should be welcomed with open arms. Besides, it might come in handy in case you forgot to bring your digital camera or smartphone camera at your disposal.

You can still take pretty good photos or videos, right?

Battery Life

The other thing that i really like, in fact, i really love from this tablet is the fact that Google Nexus 10 is packing a staggering 9000mAh power battery on it. And this is insanely huge for a tablet.

To make a comparison, the iPad Air comes with around 8000mAh battery inside.

And this already makes iPad Air a long lasting tablet that could last in 2 days even in heavy usage.

According to MKBHD or Marques Brownlee, he experienced that he just couldn’t kill the battery of iPad Air because it’s too insanely powerful.

He added that, even for playing games or watching movies in marathon, i mean, in the long run for many many hours without resting, that iPad Air was still able to last in 2 days.

Well, that’s insane, right?

With that being said, then i have no reason to doubt that the much bigger 9000mAh power battery of Google Nexus 10 is definitely more than capable to last in more than 1 day even in heavy hardcore usage for playing games or watching HD movies.

However, in mixed use, like for watching movies, playing games, reading books, browsing the net, checking emails, listening to music and all bunch of other stuff combined, then Google Nexus 10 could even last more than 2 days than in heavy mixed usage above.

So it’s good to hear that besides having a full HD 2560x1600 pixel display, monster specs, great design, fast performance, fluid experience and affordable price tag, Google Nexus 10 also has a strong battery life, making sure that users can enjoy using this tablet without having to worry about recharging this tablet during the day.

That’s a huge plus point of this tablet.

User Opinions

From all the tablets around the market to date, i can easily say that Google Nexus 10 is by far one of my favorite tablets out there, besides Tegra Note and Google Nexus 7 (2013 edition).
  • It has an amazing full HD display,
  • powerful specs,
  • beautiful design,
  • fast performance,
  • fluid experience,
  • great support from Google for future software updates,
  • long lasting battery life
  • and the most importantly, an affordable price tag than other high-end tablets out there.
So buying this tablet is definitely one of the best deals you can find on the market right now.

However, i’m not sure if Google and Samsung are still offering this tablet on Google Play Store anymore or otherwise, they already stopped all the production of this tablet prior to the launch of Google Nexus 10’s sequel, which still doesn’t exist until now.

But if you’re so eager to get this tablet for this holiday season, maybe you can find it on Amazon or other retailers around your town or internet.

I believe there are still many stocks of this tablet waiting for the new owners.

Conclusion

So to sum this, Samsung Nexus 10 Tablet specs are no doubt the best on the market right now.

It’s not only because it has some monster specs on it nor it has full HD 2560x1600, but what makes this tablet even more awesome is because it’s really affordable than other high-end rivals.

iPad Air is definitely the toughest tablet to beat for Google Nexus 10.

However, the fact that Google Nexus 10 has a much higher resolution display than iPad Air, plus bigger 9000mAh power battery than 8000mAh battery on iPad Air, not to mention, bigger 2GB RAM than 1GB RAM on iPad Air, and other great things that just cannot be found on iPad Air, then it really makes it a lot easier for me to recommend this tablet to you especially for those of you who have tight budget for a tablet but want a tablet with powerful performance.

Google Nexus 10 may not have the premium feel or the same quality gaming performance as iPad Air, but at the price that is cheaper than iPad Air, Google Nexus 10 is absolutely a great 10-inch tablet that you can find on the market right now.

It has all the elements of a great tablet. You’ll make no mistake if you decide to buy this tablet.

However, if you’re in a great shape financially, you should definitely pick up iPad Air instead.

It may not have the same high resolution 2560x1600 display on Google Nexus 10, but it has premium design, long lasting battery life, much bigger catalog of well-optimized apps/games on App Store and more powerful gaming performance than Google Nexus 10.
