Here are 9 Awesome Tegra K1 Games for Your Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 TabletOkay, many of us already know how powerful Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 really is, especially for gaming.

Thanks to Tegra K1 quad-core processor found inside this tablet, as well as its staggering 192-core GPU, Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 is no doubt really beast when it comes to gaming performance.

Apart from being a powerful tablet, Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 also ticks all the requirements of a great all-around tablet.

It’s got a super high-resolution screen, big RAM, decent quality cameras, awesome software, huge expandable external storage, pretty solid battery life and on top of all that, this Xiaomi’s tablet only costs around $250, which is really cheap for a high-end quality tablet like this.

Impressively, as a tablet with an affordable price tag, Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 doesn’t suck in terms of gaming performance. As a matter of fact, this tablet is made by Xiaomi for gaming.

And that’s shown perfectly by the superiority of this device in handling literally any games that you see today on Android platform.

However, what sets this tablet apart from other regular Android tablets out there is actually its capability to handle not only regular Android games on Google Play Store, but also the console-quality games that are ported from consoles/PC exclusively only for Tegra K1 tablets, including Xiaomi MiPad 7.9.

But the question is, how good exactly is the gaming performance of Xiaomi MiPad 7.9?

I mean, how great is the gaming performance of this tablet compared to other rivals on the market right now?

Well, according to plenty videos I stumbled upon on YouTube, Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 indeed has the horsepower to play many Android games that are ported from consoles and PC directly to Tegra K1 hardware, like Half Life 2, Trine 2 and many more.

So that’s the reason why today, I would like to share to you some of the games that have been fully-optimized specifically for Tegra K1 tablets like Xiaomi MiPad 7.9.

I want to show you how powerful this tablet and how amazing it really is for playing games.

Okay then, without further ado, in the following list below, here are some of the games that work perfectly on Xiaomi MiPad 7.9.

1. Half Life 2

Half Life 2
Game: Half Life 2
Platform: Android (ported from PC and consoles)
Developed by: Valve Corporation
Genre: Sci-Fi First Person Shooter
Okay, who doesn’t know Half Life? If you are a hardcore gamer, you will surely know how popular this game really is in all across the world.

The great news is, the second installment of this series, Half Life 2 is now available to play not only on consoles and PC, but also on Tegra K1 hardware, including Xiaomi MiPad 7.9.

So in Half Life 2, you will play as the protagonist character named Gordon Freeman and help other human beings to fight an empire led by aliens called "Combine", which has been taking over Planet Earth for a really long time.

In this game, you will be blessed with many weapons that you can make use of to kill the monsters and aliens that you meet across the street.

I actually have been a huge fan of this game since my Dad bought the first PC to this family. The first installment of Half Life series was one of my favorite PC games that got me hooked all day on my computer.

So I think it’s really awesome how Nvidia manages to convince Valve Corporation, the one that develops this game, to port the sequel of this amazing first person shooter game directly to Android platform.

2. Trine 2

Trine 2
Game: Trine 2
Platform: Android (Tegra K1 quad-core processor)
Developed by: Frozenbyte
Genre: Adventure and Puzzle with 2.5D perspective
To be honest, I've never played “Trine 2” in my entire life simply because I don’t have Xbox 360 or PS 3.

But the first time I saw this game on one of Nvidia’s demos when announcing Tegra K1 processor, I was really blown away especially by the graphics of this game, which looked really gorgeous with popping out colors here and there in the gameplay.

And amazingly, this game is not a full-fledged 3D game.

It’s actually similar just like SNES game called “Donkey Kong Country”, which uses 2.5D perspective, combining 3D graphics with 2D gameplay.

So in this game, you are only allowed to move your character in 2 directions, left and right. But of course, you can also jump to avoid obstacles or otherwise, move down to the lower grounds.

Just like Half Life 2, this “Trine 2” game is also exclusively available only for Tegra K1 hardware. But I heard a lot that this game cannot be played on Google Nexus 9, despite the fact that this Google’s tablet also uses Tegra K1 processor.

Soon I found out that this game doesn’t work on Google Nexus 9 tablet because it comes with the Denver dual-core version of Tegra K1 processor, as opposed to the regular Tegra K1 processor found inside Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 and Nvidia Shield Tablet that uses quad-core CPU.

So if you really wanna play this game on your Android device, you might want to pick up either Nvidia Shield Tablet or Xiaomi MiPad 7.9.

And considering how awesome and gorgeous this game really is, both in graphics and gameplay, I think this game is a really worth downloading game on Nvidia Game Store.

3. Portal

Portal
Game: Portal
Platform: Android (Tegra K1)
Developed by: Valve Corporation
Genre: First Person Puzzle Platform
Besides releasing Half Life 2, Valve Corporation also ports another popular title exclusively for Tegra K1 tablets. It’s called “Portal”.

Okay, many of you are probably not familiar with this game, including me.

But based on what I’ve gathered around through the internet, “Portal” is actually a puzzle game with First Person perspective that allows you to maneuver from one portal to another portal by using your portal gun in order to solve the puzzles in the game.

Portal is an older game released in 2007, but it got ported to Tegra K1 in May 12 of 2014.

I personally like “Half Life 2” better than “Portal” simply because I love first person shooter games that involve shooting at people, aliens or zombies. However, the puzzle element in Portal also got me really curious.

And the fact that this game also uses first person perspective just like Half Life 2, I’m pretty interested to test-drive this game someday in the near future.

4. OCTODAD

OCTODAD
Game: OCTODAD
Platform: Android (Tegra K1)
Developed by: a group of students at DePaul University
Genre: Third person simulation game
Most people think that today’s video games are all about gorgeous realistic graphics and serious gameplay. But the truth is, there are many casual games that can be really interesting and addictive to play on PCs.

“Octodad” is probably one of them.

I know some of you here probably never heard of this game, ever. As a matter of fact, I actually saw this game at the first time from watching one of video game reviews on one YouTuber named theRadBrad on his channel.

At first, I didn’t think this game was interesting maybe because the graphics looked really weird and the game was also really casual.

But after looking through the gameplay, I was actually quite impressed with this game, especially with the funny octopus character that moves and walks really funny with its long tentacles.

In “Octodad”, you will play as the octopus who disguises as a human and even has a real family.

So in this game, you will be tasked to do some activities that normal people usually do, like shopping vegetables at grocery store, cleaning the dishes and many other stuff.

Interestingly, Nvidia decides to shake hands with the developer of this game to bring this “Octodad” on Tegra K1 tablet.

However, if you are a hardcore gamer who usually plays games like Assassins’ Creed or Call of Duty series, then I don’t think “Octodad” is the kind of game that you would like to play on your PC.

However, given its unique gameplay and storyline, plus funny characters, I think you will find this game interesting to play in your spare time, especially if you have Tegra K1 tablets like Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 at your disposal in your house.

5. Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath
Game: Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath
Platform: Android (ported from the original first-gen Xbox)
Developed by: Oddworld Inhabitations (published by Electronic Arts
Genre: Action first person shooter in monster world
The first time I played “Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath” was actually a couple of years ago when I was still in college. I used to play this game on my first-gen Xbox console. And to tell you the truth, this game is indeed quite awesome to play.

But if you’re not familiar with this game, “Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath” (OSW) is a first person shooter game that takes places in the monster-themed world in the era of American cowboys and sheriffs.

You will play as a fearsome bounty hunter who acts as a law enforcer like sheriff that has no hesitation to capture any outlaws that do the crimes and fight the laws.

One of many things that makes this game quite interesting to play is actually the weapons that you can use during the game.

Okay, most of the weapons in FPS games like Call of Duty series mostly use some regular normal weapons with silver bullets.

However, in “Oddworld”, you will be given with unique weapons that you can fill with some tiny but dangerous monsters that you collect during the game.

Each of these tiny monsters will be the bullets of your weapon that have their own distinctive strengths one to another, but deadly when shot at enemies.

Compared to other first person shooter games on Android, I do really think that “Oddworld” can be a great addition in Android game catalog.

However, this game is only available for Tegra K1 devices like Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 or Nvidia Shield Tablet.

The good news, I’ve actually already played this game on my Alcatel Flash Plus phablet, despite not using Tegra K1 processor. And amazingly, the game runs really smooth and fast without any lag whatsoever on my phablet.

So if you’re really interested and want to play this game on you device, then YES, you can play this game on any non-Tegra-K1 device as long as it has adequate hardware to play heavy 3D games.

6. Need for Speed: No Limits

Need for Speed: No Limits
Game: Need for Speed: No Limits
Platform: Android (Tegra K1)
Developed by: Electronic Arts and Firemonkeys
Genre: Arcade Racing
Continuing the success of the previous Need for Speed Most Wanted series on mobile devices, Electronic Arts is back again to bring the next iteration of its successful arcade racing game to mobile platforms goes by the name “Need for Speed: No Limit”.

I personally haven’t played this game on my Android device. However, as I’ve already seen on one of the videos on YouTube, Nvidia apparently teams up with Electronic Arts and Firemonkeys to fully optimize this game specifically for Tegra K1 devices.

Interestingly, the gameplay of Need for Speed No Limits, especially its graphics, kind of remind me with the graphics and gameplay of Gameloft’s popular arcade racing title, Asphalt 8: Airborne.

Okay, I know that Need for Speed No Limits may not have the same stunt-jump mechanism just like in Asphalt 8: Airborne.

But I think, how the cars move and do the drifts in this game look pretty similar with the car movements and also the graphics of Asphalt 8: Airborne.

And this is way different with the previous-installment, "Need for Speed Most Wanted" released in 2012 that obviously looks and plays differently compared with Asphalt 8: Airborne.

But even so, Need for Speed No Limits is still one of the hottest arcade racing games for mobile devices right now.

And if you happen to have Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 at your disposal, then you’re in luck as this game has been fully-optimized by Electronic Arts specifically for Tegra K1 tablets.

So the graphics in this game will be significantly improved, the visual effects are more advanced and everything in this game certainly looks more gorgeous.

Not to mention, the experience of playing this game on Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 is definitely more immersive and realistic than on any non-Tegra-K1 tablets out there.

7. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories
Game: Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
Platform: Android (regular)
Developed by: Rockstar Game
Genre: Open world action-adventure with third person perspective
After unleashing GTA III, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas on smartphones and tablets, apparently Rockstar Game still has a strong commitment to bring the other series of this game, "GTA Liberty City Stories" on mobile platforms.

And just like the previous games, "GTA Liberty City Stories" on mobile devices also uses the same exact properties from graphics, objects, storyline and everything from the original game released on PSP a couple of years ago.

So everything that you’re already familiar with in original version can be seen here again on the port version for mobile devices.

This game is actually just a regular Android game and it’s not one of NVIDIA's exclusive games for Tegra K1 tablets. But I think this game is still worth to play on Xiaomi MiPad 7.9, especially with its beast performance.

Besides, with a powerful processor like Tegra K1, I think "GTA Liberty City Stories" would be really awesome to play on Xiaomi MiPad because not only does this game perform really smooth with no lag, but it also runs perfectly even in full highest graphics.

8. Gangstar Vegas

Gangstar Vegas
Game: Gangstar Vegas
Platform: Android (regular)
Developed by: Gameloft
Genre: Open world action adventure with third person perspective
If you are a huge fan of Grand Theft Auto series, then you will definitely love what Gameloft brings to mobile devices through its Gangstar series.

The latest installment of Gangstar is called “Gangstar Vegas” and it is the 4th iteration of this series (from Gangstar West Coast Hustle, Miami Vindication and Gangstar Rio).

Similar just like GTA series, Gangstar Vegas also uses the same exact gameplay just like in Grand Theft Auto series, which is an open world action adventure game in third person perspective.

So you can hijack people’s cars, fly a chopper, shoot at police officers, blow up stuff and many other things that you can do in GTA games.

Just like GTA series, Gangstar Vegas is also not an exclusive game for Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 or any other Tegra K1 tablets out there.

However, given that this game is really heavy, either in size and graphics, then Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 with its powerful gaming performance can be the best platform to enjoy this game at its full potential.

The cool thing about this game is, Gangstar Vegas takes places in Las Vegas. So yes, in this city of gambling, of course there will be some extra missions or mini games related to gambling or casino, like playing poker, blackjack and other casino games that are really popular in Las Vegas.

This is actually quite interesting for me because by playing Gangstar Vegas, not only can you play the regular missions in order to finish the game, but you can also sharpen your skills to play poker and other casino games through the extra mini games that are available in Gangstar Vegas.

However, if you really want to learn more thoroughly about playing online casino games that involve real cash, then Baccarat Casino Guide can be the right destination for you.

9. Asphalt 8: Airborne

Asphalt 8: Airborne
Game: Asphalt 8: Airborne
Platform: Android (regular)
Developed by: Gameloft
Genre: Arcade racing game
Besides "Need for Speed: No Limits", I think Asphalt 8: Airborne also deserves to be mentioned here as a MUST-HAVE game for Xiaomi Mi Pad. Okay, I know that this game is just a regular Android game and it's not one of NVIDIA's exclusive games for Tegra K1 tablets just like "Need for Speed: No Limits".

However, considering the popularity of this game on mobile platform, as well as its gorgeous graphics and visual effects, then Asphalt 8: Airborne is definitely the game you don't want to miss especially if you have Xiaomi MiPad 7.9.

Asphalt 8: Airborne, as the name suggest, is indeed the 8th installment of Gameloft's popular racing franchise on mobile devices.

With its gorgeous graphics and advanced visual effects, not to mention, its addictive gameplay, Asphalt 8: Airborne is definitely a great addition for Xiaomi MiPad 7.9.

Conclusion

Well, those are 9 games that I think would be really awesome to play on Tegra K1 tablets like Xiaomi MiPad.

There are actually some other titles that also are fully-optimized for Tegra K1 tablets, like: Anomaly 2, Chuck’s Challenge 3D: Reloaded, Dungeon Defenders Eternity, War Thunder, Game of Thrones and many other more.

But I probably will share these remaining games some other time in the near future. So if you want to find out more about these games, be sure to stay tuned on this website!
