Samsung GALAXY Tab 4 Tablets: Quick Review RoundupHi guys, welcome back to this site!

Around the market of tablet, Samsung GALAXY Tab series has been one of the most popular tablet series out there alongside Apple’s iPads.

Despite not having premium feel and material just like the iPad, however, Samsung GALAXY Tab series amazingly has been doing really great in sales, especially in mid-end market.

The thing that really makes this Samsung’s tablet series stand out in front of its competition is probably its cellular connectivity and also phone functionality.

So Samsung GALAXY Tab tablets are not just equipped with internet capability, but they also allow users to make phone calls and send text messages.

Samsung GALAXY Tab series has already stepped to the fourth-generation Samsung GALAXY Tab 4.

And as the fourth-gen family, it’s really obvious that all the tablets released in this series will have much better hardware specifications than the predecessors.

And that’s true because Samsung GALAXY Tab 4 tablets now look more superior compared to the previous-gen models, especially in terms of design and specs.

Similar just like the previous-gen models, Samsung GALAXY Tab 4 also still consists in varied different variants – from the basic smallest 7-inch, the 8-inch and the largest 10.1-inch models. However, that’s not it actually.

All of these 3 models also consists in another varied different models, ranging from the one with WiFi-only, 3G and even 4G LTE connectivity.

So i think it’s great to see Samsung release all of these models, making sure this fourth-gen series will embrace all types of customers with different needs around the tablet market.

Anyway guys, as i explained already above, in this quick roundup, i want to discuss about all of the tablets released under the Samsung GALAXY Tab 4 series.

However, given that the WiFi, 3G and 4G models of each tablet use the same type of hardware specs, so i’ll wrap them up into just one quick review for each model (7-inch, 8-inch and 10.1-inch models).

I’m not sure if Samsung has plans to also release the Lite version of Samsung GALAXY Tab 4 tablet – just like it did in the past with Samsung GALAXY Tab 3 Lite.

But i’ll definitely put that model on this page in the future of course when Samsung finally releases that model.

Okay then, without further ado, here you go, my quick summary reviews of all Samsung GALAXY Tab 4 tablets. Enjoy!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 (WiFi, 3G and 4G)

Similar just what Samsung always did in the past with its Samsung Galaxy Tab series, in this fourth-gen lineup, this company still treats the basic model the same way like the predecessors.

It still inherits the mediocre processor and GPU, especially compared to the larger 8-inch and 10.1-inch models – which have more powerful piece of chipset.

But the good thing is, on this model, Samsung finally ups its game by bringing a 720p display to this basic 7-inch model, which is something that has been expected for quite some time by its loyal fans.

On the hardware standpoint, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 can be considered as low-end player, despite the upgrade of its display.

It’s powered by a quad-core Marvel PXA1088 chipset clocked at 1.2GH per core, accompanied with 1.5GB of RAM, Vivante GPU.

Basically, with this type of processor, it’s quite obvious that this tablet will scream in performance, especially for doing some basic media tasks.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0However, when it comes to playing games, this tablet may not be as powerful as its 2 siblings – the 8-inch and 10-inch models, which both ship with Snapdragon 400 processor and Adreno 305 GPU.

This 7-inch tablet may perform well when playing some games like FIFA 2014, Asphalt 8: Airborne (in medium graphics) or Need for Speed Most Wanted.

But it will suffer a lot when handling GTA San Andreas in full highest graphics.

So if you’re really into gaming on tablet, this tablet may not be the perfect device for you. You can switch to either HP Slate 7 Extreme, Xiaomi Mi Pad, Google Nexus 7 (2013) or Kindle Fire HDX 7.

But apart from that, there are still some good things to appreciate from this tablet, from its 3.15MP rear-facing camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, its microSD card slot for up to 32GB and its 4000mAh power battery, which promises 10 hours of talk time (multimedia) and 190 hours for music play.

So this tablet is still a decent quality device for media-consumption stuff. Besides, it now has much better and elegant design compared to predecessor.

So this tablet is still better in many ways than the previous-gen models that have that chubby rectangular looking design.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0Released in the fourth-generation, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 brings many upgrades compared to the predecessor.

The most prominent one happens on its performance hardware, which now is taken care by a more powerful Snapdragon 400 processor, as well as its Adreno 305 GPU.

So if the predecessor is already powerful in gaming performance with its Mali-400 GPU, this sequel is most definitely much even better for that matter (hey, that rhymes!).

So basically, with this new powerful chipset, not only does Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 perform really fast and smooth, but it’s also more than adequate to handle the latest graphically demanding games like Asphalt 8: Airborne, Dead Trigger 2, Modern Combat 5 or GTA San Andreas, although the GTA game will not perform smoothly in fully highest graphics.

The great thing is, this model uses much lower clock speed on its Snapdragon 400 processor, so i believe it wouldn’t have that overheating issue just like other Snapdragon 400 devices with higher clock speed.

However, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is not just about gaming.

It’s also a perfect device for many things, either for watching movies, listening to music, reading books/magazines, taking photos, recording videos, editing documents, browsing the web and even making phone calls or sending text messages (the 3G and 4G models of course).

When its comes to specs, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is actually not very different with the 7-inch model.

It has the same 1.5GB of RAM, microSD card slot for up to 64GB (as opposed to 32GB on 7-inch model), 720p resolution (1280x800 pixels) on its 8-inch screen, 16GB of internal storage, 3.15MP rear-facing camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera and similar looking design.

However, this model has much bigger 4450mAh battery compared to the 7-inch model, promising around 141 hours for music play.

Overall, i think it’s really easy to recommend this tablet to you, even if you’re looking for a good gaming tablet.

But if you decide to get the 3G or the 4G model, you’ll get something more than just a media or gaming tablet.

You can make phone calls or send text messages as well with this tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1Similar just like the 8-inch model, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 also brings some similar upgrades with its 8-inch sibling.

Despite using a much larger 10.1-inch display, this large media-consumption tablet comes with the same Snapdragon 400 processor just like the 8-inch variant, also with the same 1.5GB of RAM and Adreno 305 GPU.

And thanks to Samsung’s decision to keep using the 720p (1280x800 pixels) resolution on this tablet, not to mention low 1.2GHz clock speed on its processor, there will be no overheating issue on this tablet.

As far as the gaming performance is concerned, this tablet actually is still “on the same page” with the 8-inch model.

So basically, this tablet is more than capable to handle many latest graphics intense games like Asphalt 8: Airborne, GTA Vice City, Modern Combat 5 or Dead Trigger 2 in full graphics.

However, as for GTA San Andreas, i think this tablet will run smoothly only in low to medium graphics setting, not in full highest graphics.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 comes with a 10.1-inch screen sporting the 1280x800 pixel resolution, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1.5GB of RAM, Adreno 305 GPU, 3.15MP rear-facing camera with LED flash, 1.3MP camera on the front, microSD card slot for up to 64GB, 16GB of Internal storage, Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, a non-removable 6800mAh power battery and a promised 208 hours of music play.

So overall, this tablet actually is a bit similar with the 8-inch model. But this largest 10.1-inch model surely has something more to offer than the smaller model.

Just like the 8-inch model, i personally think that this Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 is also a decent quality tablet on many sectors, on hardware department especially.

It handles many latest games smoothly and in full graphics, it has great software and features, not to mention, it’s also great for a lot of media-consumption stuff.

I think it’s really obvious why Samsung doesn’t equip this tablet with some monster specs.

And that’s because Samsung wants to keep positioning this tablet only in mid-end category, while the high-end category is taken care by the Samsung Galaxy Tab S or Pro series.

Conclusion

Well, that’s all for now about these Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 tablets.

I probably will update this blog post in the future if Samsung indeed releases the next-gen Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Lite.

But i still have doubts that, although it’s still very possible given that cheap affordable tablets have been doing great on the market right now. But we’ll see.
